Wii Play

Wii Play is the best selling game on the Wii. It is has become almost the essential game for every Wii owner. Wii Play is made up of 9 mini-games which Nintendo proudly states that even your grandma will be able to play.

The reason for Wii Play’s success isn’t the quality of the game however; it is mostly down to value for money as Wii Play comes packaged with a Wii Remote and costs just slightly more than a Wii Remote sold separately. This makes purchasing Wii play a no-brainer for any owner of the Nintendo Wii.

Wii Play with Wii Remote

The 9 mini-games that make up Wii Play with Wii Remote are used as in introduction to the Wii controls and indeed the game is named My First Wii in Japan. Nintendo foolishly chose not to give it that name in the UK.

If you are not too keen on the advance booking issue, and want to go the traditional way by standing in line since early morning, and waiting all day to get to your chance at buying the game from the store shelf, then you should keep your fingers crossed. Because, chances are that by the time you turn comes, it will have been sold out. In that case, you will have to wait until the next fresh stock hits the shops before you can get your hands on the Nintendo Wii. And by then, the next version will probably be on its way!

The games included with this title are as follows:

Wii Play Games

Tanks! – Probably the deepest and most involved of the games although still not greatly so (well what do you expect from a 9th of a £10 game?) Tanks lets you go to war as a toy tank shooting at other tanks. There are 20 levels of Tanks! in Wii Play which increase in difficult by either adding more enemy tanks or a tougher variety of tanks.

Charge! - Here your Mii is sat on the back of a cotton cow which you race to the end of a track before the time runs out. To earn more time you have to knock down scarecrows.

Billiards – A traditional game of billiards played on a 3D table.
Fishing – players use the Wii remote as a fishing rod to catch as many fish as they can within 30 seconds.

Laser Hockey – This is a Wii Play interpretation of air hockey. Laser Hockey is one of the most enjoyable games.

Pose Mii – Players need to burst bubbles by fitting their Mii inside a shape within the bubbles. This requires moving the Mii into place as well as changing the pose the Mii is making to fit inside the bubble.

Table Tennis – Table Tennis is just like real table tennis.

Find Mii – A series of games where the player needs to spot a matching pair of Miis, or a specific Mii from a crowd.

Shooting Range - Plays as Wii Play updated version of classic Nintendo game Duck Hunt.
